Seventeen marketing activities to tackle

Social distancing and home working have thrown many marketers’ worlds into disarray. Still, fewer meetings and even fewer trade-shows and exhibitions could mean that you have more time to work on revenue-generating long-term marketing activities. Here are 17 Marketing Activities that you and your team can finally tackle:

1. WEBINARS

There has never been a better time to do a webinar. Ask your audience what they are interested in learning about and get your marketing team working with you on the webinar. Whether it is a CPD or product demo or a walk-through on using your online portal, get your webinar ready. You could always host a practice run with your team before the actual event. Here is our complete webinar guide!

2. SET UP WORKFLOWS AND EMAIL AUTOMATIONS

If email automation is something that has been on your list for a while, now you might have the time to set this up for when someone downloads your brochure or fills in a contact form. The key here is to set up automation to lead your user to the next meaningful step on your website, such as a FAQs page, Online Shop or Webinar. Here is an article on automations.

3.BROADEN YOUR MARKETING KNOWLEDGE

Now might be a good time to learn new skills or add to your existing marketing knowledge. Whether you like to learn on your own or want a 1-1 session, we offer our training virtually as a one-to-one course that is around 2-3 hours long. It is highly customised to your brand. Here is a link to our training course.

4. SEO AUDIT

Finally, get round to your SEO Audit and fix SEO issues on your website to get your website ranking better than competitors on Google. Here is the link to a free resource for carrying out a basic SEO Audit. Your findings here will help you determine if you need a professional to carry out a full audit: https://nibbler.silktide.com/

5. SEO KEYWORD RESEARCH

Now that you have done the Audit let’s get to that keyword research. Keyword research will help identify what keywords your website should be optimised for. You may not necessarily have to write new content: you could optimise existing content based on your findings. But the key here is to start optimising and get your website ranking.

6. INTERACTIVE CONTENT

Interactive content may have been on your list for a while now, but you just haven’t found the time to get round to it. Now is the time to create interactive quizzes, calculators or games based on your audience type. There are numerous ways to engage your audience through games and quizzes relevant to your brand.

7. START A PODCAST

Truth be told, podcasts have been on my to-do list for the longest time. Why not use this time to collaborate with stakeholders across the business and create a fun podcast? Oh, and if you are on the lookout for your next podcast, the Bernstein Podcast is excellent.

8. COLLABORATE WITH INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS

Collaboration can be significant within the industry. Why not collaborate with customers, suppliers or even influencers to create content? Here is an example of collaborative content we have built with our friends

9. FIX YOUR EMAIL SIGNATURES

Chances are your employees are sending even more emails than they did before, so why not use their email signature to point customers to relevant content on your website? Or you could ask them to take your survey, which brings us nicely to our next point.

10. SURVEY YOUR CUSTOMERS

Why not use this time to manage customer expectations and understand what you can do to serve your customers better? It will help you know what content or comms they would like to receive.

11.OPTIMISE YOUR WEBSITE FOR CONVERSIONS

A website on its own is not enough. The site should also consider whether it is converting users. There is an array of conversions you can set up such as:

  • Email Sign Ups

  • Downloading a Resource

  • Setting up an Account

12. CARRY OUT A CONTENT AUDIT

A Content Audit can help you identify both what content is performing well and what content you could tweak on the website. You may also wish to delete content that is no longer relevant on past exhibitions or events. This can also help you plan future posts and create your editorial calendar.

13. GET YOUR TEAM TO START WRITING WHITE PAPERS

Speaking of a Content Audit, now is a great time to ask your team members to spend some time writing content that you can use to create a White Paper. Identify what content your customers are interested in reading through SEO, Survey and Social Media. Then assign a few paragraphs across team members.

14. CREATE INTERACTIVE VIDEOS

There are great explainer videos that can be created today in a range of apps with limited skills required. Biteable happens to be our favourite due to ease of use and a low level of expertise needed.

15. INVITE YOUR LEADS FOR VIRTUAL COFFEES

Actual in-person meetings might not be possible for a while but do invite your leads for a virtual coffee meeting. It is a great way to socialise and network while adhering to social- distancing rules.

16. IMPROVE YOUR INSTAGRAM

Many brands neglect Instagram. Why not use this time to boost your Instagram? Our guide might help as a good starting point. It can help you streamline your Instagram Marketing.

17. SETUP ASANA TO PLAN YOUR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL MARKETING PARTNERS

Asana will be the best thing you do for managing your remote teams. Not only can you see your calendar and what you should be working on, but you can also track your team’s progress and really stop living in your inbox. Disclaimer –  we are biased towards Asana due to the number of years we have been on it. There are some other great tools such as Teamwork, Basecamp and many more.
