Changes are on the horizon for advertising financial services to LinkedIn members in the United Kingdom. Starting May 28, 2024, ads targeting UK members must be from firms authorised by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). This shift is in response to the UK government’s efforts to tackle online fraud and scams, impacting all ads on LinkedIn, including those on the LinkedIn Audience Network (LAN). To comply, advertisers must verify their FCA registration with LinkedIn. If your firm still needs to register with the FCA, we suggest doing so before seeking LinkedIn approval.
Read on to learn about the pre-approval process for financial services ads targeted to LinkedIn users in the UK.
Pre-Approval Process:
Advertisers must obtain pre-approval from LinkedIn before serving financial services ads to UK audiences. If pre-approval is not obtained, ads will be rejected.
How to Obtain Pre-Approval:
- If you’re registered with the UK FCA, you can apply for pre-approval through the UK Financial Services Verification page in Campaign Manager.
- You’ll need your UK FCA Firm Reference Number and a firm email address matching the registered domain.
Application Process:
- Access the UK Financial Services Verification page.
- Select the accounts for pre-approval and click “Verify pre-approval”.
- Enter your firm reference number and email address and click continue.
- Verify the 6-digit code sent to your email.
- Receive confirmation upon successful verification.
Appeal Process:
If your ad is rejected, you’ll receive an email detailing the reason. You can submit an appeal if you believe the rejection was incorrect. Pre-approval from LinkedIn is not required for financial service ads targeted outside of the UK.
Stay compliant and ensure your financial service ads reach your UK audience seamlessly by following these guidelines. For more information, visit the UK Financial Services Verification page on LinkedIn.
